Lionel Messi Could Be Staying In Barcelona Afterall

After all this, could Lionel Messi actually be about to stay in Barcelona? A report in Spain has claimed the club are certainly trying.

As the press conference to say goodbye to the club’s all time top scorer was going on, reports from France were claiming his move to PSG was all but done.

Within those claims were the details that Messi would fly to Paris either Sunday evening or Monday to complete the talks and do his medical.

On Monday though, Messi was still at home in Barcelona, chilling out with former teammate Luis Suarez and maybe that’s because he could yet be staying.

According to Spanish outlet La Porteria, and relayed by Journalist Joan Vehils, described a ‘close’ to club president Joan Laporta, the club have made a final attempt to keep him there.

The report says that the offer was made following the teary farewell press conference and the option is not ‘completely closed,’ with CEO Ferran Reverter said to be negotiating.

Reports in France last night did claim that Messi had now arrived back in Ibiza, where he holidayed alongside some potential future teammates recently, to start negotiations with PSG.

Claims in Spain state that the Catalans have filed a complaint to the European Court of Appeal over the finances involved, and the Ligue 1 giants’ ability to afford the player.

There is one rule PSG are hoping to break if they sign the 34-year-old, and that’s to make him number 30 in their squad.
