Arsenal Set For Alternative Goalkeeper After Aaron Ramsdale Move Breaks Down

The Gunners had previously pinpointed the 23-year-old ‘keeper as the club’s top transfer priority and had lodged two bids for the player.

But with the two clubs still wide apart in their valuations, the north London outfit have decided to look at alternative targets – after talks between the Gunners and the Blades broke down.

On Wednesday, football.london reported that Arsenal were hopeful of signing Ramsdale for an initial £24m plus add-ons.

The move would have made the Englishman the most-expensive goalkeeper in the club’s history.

However, The Athletic claims that, after face-to-face talks on Wednesday, no fee was able to be finalised and Arsenal will now look elsewhere.

And according to The Sun, Ramsdale is allegedly “very disappointed” that the transfer from Sheffield to London did not materialise.

Arsenal are heading into the start of the new Premier League season incredibly underprepared.

So far, Ben White has been the only major addition to the squad this summer, with the £50m defensive stalwart set to come straight into the heart of Mikel Arteta‘s defence.

With the opening fixture against Brentford to come on Friday, the goalkeeper department for Arsenal is now a pressing concern.

Should Bernd Leno fall foul to injury it would be catastrophic and the Gunners will be keen to find a new ‘keeper as soon as possible, but will they find the right one?
